AP Environmental Science provides juniors and seniors with a college-level understanding of the biological, chemical, and physical systems that create the conditions necessary for the variety of life on earth and of how human activities have affected and continue to affect said systems. Additionally, the course presents numerous solutions to a variety of environmental problems (e.g., air and water pollution, acid rain, climate change, soil erosion). An emphasis is also placed on understanding renewable and nonrenewable resources, particularly in the contexts of agriculture, fishing, forests, and energy production. The class is heavily based on experiential learning: labs, mini-field trips to various on-campus facilities*, and longer field trips (e.g., to solar farms or water treatment plants) are all essential parts of this class.
